COMPASSION RMTs Response to “Return to Work” Action Plan & Client Guide
COMPASSION RMT RESPONSE & ACTION PLAN
In-person Massage therapy treatment should only be provided when the anticipated benefits of treatment outweigh the risks to the client and the RMT.
The CMTO requires me to inform clients of any public health measures that have been implemented in advance of the appointment;

  1. Before accepting an appointment, the RMT must screen the client virtually for risk of COVID-19 by following the MOH’s COVID-19 Patient Screening Document Guidance and the COVID-19 Reference Document for Symptoms. If the client does not pass this basic COVID-19 screening, the RMT cannot provide treatment, regardless of the rationale for Massage Therapy treatment. Advise the client that they should self-isolate and complete the online self-assessment tool before calling their primary care provider or Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000. This information should be documented in the client health record and the RMT should not treat the client for at least 14 days, until the client is asymptomatic, and has been cleared by their primary care provider or Telehealth Ontario of any concern of COVID-19.
  2. Require everyone, including staff, clients and visitors to wash their hands upon arrival.
  3. The therapist is required to wear a mask during every treatment.
  4. Schedule appointments in a way that allows enough time between clients to implement new documentation, cleaning and disinfecting protocol. 45 minutes is now added to every treatment to meet this protocol.
  5. Daily Covid-19 screening of the therapist
  6. If a client does not pass the Covid-19 Screening I will Advise the client that they should self-isolate and complete the online self assessment tool before calling their primary care provider or Telehealth Ontario; o clean and disinfect the practice area and anywhere the client is likely to have touched immediately. The client will be asked to return home and self isolate for a minimum of 14 days.
  7. We will be operating with a “Locked door policy”. The door will remain locked and only opened for clients who have met the pre-screening requirements.
  8. We have removed all items that cannot be disinfected at this time.
  9. We are having the vent systems cleaned before our return to work.
  10. We will be using an air purifier in the massage room for now on.
  11. Disinfection and sanitization protocols are now in place to ensure your safety.
  12. Completion of Public Health Ontario’s “Infection Prevention and Control Fundamentals” and hand hygeine models.

COMPASSION RMTs GUIDE FOR CLIENTS

  1. All appointments will have an additional 45 minutes to ensure time to meet all requirements. This is now built into our booking system.
  2. Require everyone, including staff, clients and visitors to wash their hands upon arrival.
  3. Please come to the appointment wearing a clean disposable or reusable mask that can be worn throughout the treatment. If the client cannot wear a mask (e.g. due to a health condition or difficulty breathing), the RMT must use their professional judgement to assess the risk of providing or continuing treatment.
  4. Please arrive alone (where possible) and as close to your appointment time as possible. If you are unable to arrive alone, please advise the person accompanying you that they will be screened at arrival to the appointment and will be asked to provide their name and number upon arrival for contact tracing purposes. The person accompanying you should also be instructed to arrive at the appointment wearing a clean disposable or reusable mask.
  5. Please wait outside or in their vehicle if possible. I will open the door to let you in when the protocols are met.
  6. Expect a passive screening of COVID-19 upon arrival to the clinic.
  7. If you forget a mask, one will be provided for you.
  8. Please wash your hands or use the hand sanitizer provided on your way out of the shop.
  9. If you are feeling unwell on the day of your appointment please call to cancel your appointment.
  10. All retail products can be purchased but we must limit the contact of products at this time.
  11. Please use physical distancing protocols when there is an ability to do so.
  12. Expect changes, updates, comprehensive consent forms, and additional screening questions.
  13. You must understand that treatment of ANY clients is a potential risk.
  14. Records of your visits, cleaning, and care will be diligently documented at this time.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and support in this matter.
