A relaxation massage is exactly what the name implies. Uniquely tailored for the purposes of rest and relaxation. This massage technique is not designed for therapeutic effects or chronic pain. Swedish massage techniques are used to soothe away mild discomfort, general muscle tension and improve circulation. The primary purpose will be to help you relax and rejuvenate.
Swedish massage techniques make up the classical soft tissue manipulations used by a massage therapist. A combination of gliding, muscle squeezing, muscle stripping, wringing, vibrations, and tapotement are used to decrease hypertonicity in the muscles. Swedish massage increases circulation, decreases pain perception and decreases overall stress levels.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage uses a combination of static compression of trigger points, firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. Generally used in cases of chronic aches/pain and in cases of sports injury.
Combination Therapeutic Massage
Best described as the combination of all the techniques learned. Swedish massage techniques including; kneading, friction, tapping, percussion, vibration, effleurage, stroking and shaking motions. Active and passive release. PNF. Sports Massage. Deep tissue. Trigger Point Therapy. Joint Mobilization. Each treatment is customized for each individual.
Barnes Myofascial Release
A manual technique for stretching the fascia with the aim to balance the body. Fascia is located between the skin and the underlying structure of muscle and bone, it is a seamless web of connective tissue that covers and connects the muscles, organs, and skeletal structures in our body. Injuries, stress, trauma, and poor posture can cause restriction to fascia, and the goal of myofascial release is to release fascia restriction and restore its tissue. Barnes method of myofascial release has a “time element” long holds with low intensity sustained pressure. This technique is performed with zero barriers (oils, lotions, creams or machinery) and when performed correctly is as pain free as possible.
Prenatal and Pregnancy Massage
Performed by a Registered Massage Therapist this is an effective and safe treatment for the prenatal and postpartum periods. Prenatal massage techniques can reduce discomfort and enhance the physiological and emotional well-being of both mother and fetus. Massage therapy helps to enhance the function of muscles and joints, improves circulation and relieves mental and physical fatigue. Postpartum massage can help regulate fluctuating hormones and assist in rebalancing your body's overall muscle tone. It has even been known to help with reduction of swelling, quality of sleep and improved breastfeeding.
Assisted Active/Passive Stretching
Active-assisted stretches can be a useful tool for enhancing functional range of motion (ROM) as well as balanced strength. Active stretches require muscle force to attain and hold a position, whereas active-assisted stretching employs additional leverage to provide greater relative ROM during the stretch. The forces may come from external resources such as a partner or may be produced internally via use of a stretching device (e.g., stretching strap or towel). Make sure to bring clothing that is comfortable and that you can easily move in.
